Help fund my tune

Hi All,

I acquired a 300zx recently which I need to get rid of. It’s a 1991 Aus Delivered 2+2 non turbo manual. It was involved in a front collision so the front bar + Quarter panels and a the passenger headlight are all gone. The drivers door is damaged.

The shell MAY be repairable but probably not worth it. The air fow metre and the ECU is gone, but the car still runs.

I want $1500 firm. The manual conversion alone for 300′s get up to $1800

Mini Update and some pics

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update to let you know where things are currently at. The car is complete and finished, in the sense of the “Build” It still needs a few things done however;

Tune (Boys from 101 Motorsport will be doing it)
Dump pipe fixed and flexi added
Clutch Master needs adjusting
Suspension needs to be completely setup

Currently in saving mode at the moment saving for the tune and some contingency money in case the guys at 101 run into any issues while tuning. Once the tune is done, it’s off to get the suspension all setup ready for track. Then time for rego!

Here are a few updated pics of various things :) Enjoy

Update for Flutt0rz

So after a few hiccups, the engine is running smoothly on the base power FC map. It was running on two cylinders. After a compression test, coilpack tests, injector tests everything was fine. It wasn’t until I thought “hmm what if it’s the coilpack ignitor?” Plugged in another one and it was running excellent.

Played around a little with the injector timing and the CAS timing and it’s now running nice and smooth, ready for a tune. On friday I had my hot side cooler pipe and turbo intake pipe fabbed up by someone that was recommended to me. Did an amazing job! The engine bay is now complete.

The oil leaks are now resolved and the engine was running at operating temp for about 15 mins with no coolant leaks. Very very happy. Below is pics and a video of mad fluttors.

(Video Here)

Now we’re off for a tune, suspension setup, electrical issues sorted out and then Insurance and rego!

Cheers

Back in action

Hi Guys,

Terribly sorry for 4 month delay in updating. It’s been pretty full on lately. To sum things up, IT’S RUNNING! It’s actually running. It’s been a long windy road of swearing, dirty hands/fingernails and cuts and bruises, blood and sweat but the end of the tunnel is near.

Here is a couple of overall shot photos that shows where things are currently at. Bit of a change from last time. I was having some issues getting the engine started. Fuel was flowing fine, air wasn’t a problem, so I assumed spark. After changing coil packs and the igniter I still had no luck. Turns out my CAS timing was well out of whack. After resetting (following this guide here) she started first go. Words cannot express the joy that overcame me. I did a dance. (Yes I literally did a dance)

Apart from that there has been a few other roadblocks. When I removed the manifold to replace all of the water lines a while ago, I forgot to replace the throttle body line, which meant there was an open line under the manifold I had to plug up :( Other than that, I also forgot I had a spare 1/8 thread port on my oil block adapter and when the engine built up oil pressure, it started pouring out. COOLANT AND OIL EVERYWHERE. Once we are all up and running it’s degreaser and high pressure hose time :D

Greddy Relocation plate all hooked up and tightened.

Status Report

Been flat out lately, I recently quit my job and I start my new one on the 19th of September, which gives me a little bit of time to get some work done on the Sil!

First of all, a few months back I got my old work equips reconditioned. They turned out so well that I think I’m going to keep them and run them on the panda! They are 17×9 +20 all round. I will need to run 30mm hubcentric bolt on spacers on the rear to fill the guards however, but this doesn’t really bother me.

Before:

After:

Moving along, I discovered that I need a new loom, the guy before me thought it would be a great idea to hack the fuck out of it and leaving it looking more mangled than a dog attack victim.

So now I require a new engine loom, there is no point trying to fix this abortion. I also require a speedo sensor to suit an SR gearbox (please contact me at obnxsh@obnxsh.com if you can help)

I have discovered I have a bikirom chipped ECU,  which I acquired the software for. Will update it to the latest firmware and see where it is currently at.

My first effort with putting the speedflow fittings, also a shot with the line in the greddy relocation plate

Cusco Brake Master Cylinder fitted

Other than that, the engine is now cranking over. All that’s left is the following:

New engine loom
Solder some engine bay wiring
Finish the oil lines
Fill with coolant/oil/tranny oil then we are ready to fire it up and start ironing out the issues!

Cheers,

Josh

Some Serious Progress

Hi,

Sorry I haven’t made an update, I’ve actually been really busy… working on the car for once!

So all my parts have arrived, the only thing’s outstanding at the moment I need to buy are brake pads and rotors and braided oil lines and an10 fittings.

So let’s start in chronological order.

The greddy Spec LS kit courtesy of Phil at Cartel Australia

FRsport.com Order!

The mountain of goodies gets bigger!

This is the optima d34/78 installed in the ark power battery box. Complete with stinger side mount brass terminals!

I had a few ideas of where i wanted to put the oil cooler, but I ended up going with vertically mounting it in front of the air conditioning condenser. This allows maximum flow from the front grill as well as flow to the lower half of the cooler from the air that has come through the intercooler. The positioning of it below also means I have easy access to the oil lines.

The Stance oil block adapter installed.

STANCE Water Block Adapter installed. Nice and subtle way to run a water temp sensor for my defi gauges.

I gave the engine a thorough degreasing and guerni. It came up quite nicely!

I was however most impressed with how the gearbox turned out!

And finally we have the before shot! Engine and gearbox mated together (complete with brand new high tensile bolts joining the box and engine together)

Halfway there!

And success!

Still have quite a while to go. I need to wire it all up, buy a heater hose kit and I still need an s13 air con compresser bracket. I also need braided oil lines and fittings too.

I will be updating this more often now as I have plenty to do!

Cheers,

Josh

Shopping Goodies!

Hi All,

I have some fantastic news, I have bought pretty much everything to complete the build and then some extra surprises!  My credit card has received a thorough workout. Huge thanks to Frsport.com (and the usa dollar sucking) Mick from Boostn Imports and Cartel Australia for great prices on parts and speedy orders!

Let’s get started!

Greddy 15mm Oil Catch Can

And that’s it! The next few weeks are going to be anxious as I wait for all this stuff :D

Can’t wait.

Will update as I go along.

Thanks for reading guys,

I got a little bored

I got a little bored, I found a photo of an s13 which pretty much encapsulates the end result of how I want mine to look. I added a few touches of my own in photoshop and came up with this:

Leave your thoughts in the comments!

Another Minor Update

Hi Guys,

I’ve done a little more recently! My new rear Toe Arms and Tie Rod Ends arrived (Courtesy of Mick from Boostn Imports Link here.) The front and rear suspension assembley is complete (Short of braided brake lines, rotors/discs however these are easily added later) The car is ready to be dropped down on wheels ready for the engine to go in.

I also painted one of the front calipers today and was rather impressed with the results! Will be doing the rest like this.

Stripped Caliper:

Painted:

Completed:

I have also come to a final decision on wheels for the car. I will be running the following:

Weds 1pc SA.55M (Black Blue Machine)
18×9 +20F 8kg Per wheel
18×10 +18R 9kg Per wheel
5×114.3

http://wedssport.jp/products/sa55m.html

I will have these landed for $2100.

Until next time!

Josh

I’ve been slack…

I’ve been rather slack lately with the silvia, should probably drink less and work on the car more =\

So I have a quick update to where I’m at now.

After my screw around with the s15 visors not fitting (thanks for the advice whichever asshole said they would) I managed to source a set of clean s14 sun visors, which fit up perfectly.

Pretty happy with the results!

Next up, I have managed to fit the rear subframe back onto the chassis complete with the solid risers, ready to go!

I’ve also gotten around to putting some more interior plastic back in, which is awesome to see it coming together.

Drivers side:

Passenger Side:

Lastly, I have pretty much completed the boot sound deadening, ran the factory loom and the power wire to the boot for the battery. Unfortunately I haven’t got enough time to remove the old sound deadening (brush on tar stuff) so I’m going to leave the most of it there, the important parts have been hit with the dynamat so It shouldn’t make a difference (except being aesthetically unpleasing)

That’s it for now, however I will have more soon. I am hoping to have the car on the road by August.

Josh.
